Language Preservation

NOC supports the preservation of our many Native American languages and feels it is important to share these valuable resources. Through a Title III federal grant, in 2016-2021, NOC offered various language preservation events and resources through our Cultural Engagement Center.

Digital resources are provided below and hard-copy resources are available for check out through the CEC.

Kaw Language Resources

The Kaw language was once near extinction and the Kaw Nation has made great efforts to revitalize the language. They have a large online resource library, as well as great personnel who teach classes in Kaw City and other locations. Please follow the links below to learn about their resources:

Pawnee Language Resources

The Pawnee Nation and the American Indian Studies Research Institute (AISRI) have worked together to create educational materials in order to teach others and preserve the Pawnee Language. According to the website:
