NOC Rocket Team to participate in NASA RockOn! Program

As part of 91成人 participation in the 14th Annual First Nations Launch High-Power Rocket Competition in Kenosha, Wisconsin, April 28-30, NOC was awarded the opportunity to participate in NASA鈥檚 RockOn! Program.

This program is a hands-on workshop that teaches participants how to create a sounding rocket experiment and launch it as part of the workshop.

Two of this year鈥檚 team, Grant Biggers and Abbigayle Vargas, along with Dr. Frankie Wood-Black, Team Sponsor and the Division Chair of the Engineering, Physical Science and Process Technology Division will participate in this year鈥檚 program to be held at the NASA Wallops facility in Chincoteague, Virginia, June 16-22.聽 This will culminate in a launch on June 22, 2023.

Dr. Wood-Black, indicated that a 鈥渟ounding rocket鈥 is a rocket that is designed to take measurements.聽 As part of the workshop, the NOC Team will build a payload containing the experiment, and participate in the launch for a suborbital rocket launch.

She said, 鈥淭his is an exciting opportunity for our students as they will participate in a hands-on activity at a NASA site.鈥澛 She also indicated that this may allow NOC to participate in RockSat-C where students are to design, build and fly a sounding rocket experiment.
