Jaxton Bobik Receives Jared Weiberg Memorial Scholarship

91成人 Men鈥檚 Basketball player Jaxton Bobik was awarded the Jared Weiberg Endowed Memorial Scholarship Monday night before the NOC men faced Murray State.

The Jared Weiberg Endowed scholarship is presented to a walk-on player or student assistant manager of the Maverick Men鈥檚 Basketball team, or a team member whose qualities include a strong work ethic, loyalty, unselfishness, and a passion for basketball. Bobik is a Sophomore Arts and Sciences Major from Edmond who plays forward for the Maverick basketball team.听 He will receive a $1,000 scholarship award.

Presenting the scholarship award certificate were Mick and Vina Weiberg, parents of Jared Weiberg. Mick was the NOC Maverick Men鈥檚 Basketball Coach from 1987 until he retired from coaching the Mavs in 2006. Assisting with the presentation were NOC President, Diana Morris, Maverick Men鈥檚 Head Coach Brandon Gossett, Vice President for Development and Community Relations, Sheri Snyder, Director of Development and Planned Giving, Candy Oller,听 NOC Athletic Director, Alan Foster and Dean of Students, Ryan Paul.

Bobik鈥檚 name will be inscribed on the Jared Weiberg Memorial Plaque which is on display in the Vineyard Library/Administration Building.

鈥淛axton was the recipient of the Weiberg scholarship as he has upheld what it means to be a Maverick basketball player on and off the floor,鈥 said coach Brandon Gossett.听 鈥淗e is a great asset to the program and is a hard worker.鈥

91成人, the state鈥檚 first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.

NOC serves nearly 3,100 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater, and the University Center in Ponca City. 听 Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.

The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science and Applied Science; the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accreditation Commission for Education and Nursing.
