Northern Family,

Welcome to the beginning of the fall semester at 91成人! Our overall desires are to provide as “normal of a college experience” as possible this fall for our students. A key to maintaining a safe and healthy college is having as many of our students and employees vaccinated as possible. We cannot encourage vaccinations enough. Doing our part to protect the health and well-being of our NOC campus community in the face of COVID-19 has never been more official. We continue to encourage everyone to take personal responsibility in following recommended guidelines, as only through a collective, cooperative effort can we help protect our campus community.

The information in our attached pandemic plan as well as on our emergency page /emergency/ outlines expectations of NOC students and employees. This is not only to protect your health, but the health of our entire community. Your continued support of these guidelines is appreciated.

In the newly-posted Pandemic Response Plan, updated 8.22.2022, clarifications have been made in the following areas to further describe plans that are in place for safety:

  • Updated Health Guidelines for the NOC Campus Community – Eliminated self-screening and lifted restrictions on physical (social) distancing guidelines
  • Updated Health Guidelines for the NOC Campus Community – Updated department contact for Nursing students
  • Updated Health Guidelines for the NOC Campus Community – Updated face mask guidelines and lifted restrictions on physical (social) distancing
  • Updated NOC COVID-19 Self- Reporting Form – Eliminated contact tracing and primary exposure contact
  • Updated Procedures for Positive COVID-19 Case – New CDC recommendation on quarantining or isolation (attached NOC Health and Safety Matrix for Employees and Students)
  • Updated Study Abroad Guidelines
  • Lifted restrictions on campus life facilities, photography guidelines, events, agricultural teams, fine arts department, and Intercollegiate Athletic Program – All should follow the current NOC Pandemic Response Guidelines in place

91成人 will continue reporting weekly on positive cases and required quarantine cases associated with students, faculty and staff. The Weekly Pandemic Situation Update will be posted on the emergency page by the close of the business day each Friday to keep the campus community informed.  /emergency/weekly-pandemic-situation-update/

03.25.2022 – NOC Pandemic Response Plan Update /emergency-information/03-25-2022-noc-pandemic-response-plan-update/ Fri, 25 Mar 2022 21:25:44 +0000 /?p=36090

Northern Family,
According to data, the Omicron variant has peaked and case numbers are declining significantly. The past four NOC weekly reports showed 0 on-campus positive cases. This along with the general downward trend nationally has led the Executive Council to relax the restrictions with the Pandemic.

We are eliminating the 70% reduced occupancy on large indoor events at the College allowing us to plan accordingly for events such as the Roustabouts Benefit concert, Commencement, Nurses Pinning ceremony, Academic Awards Receptions, and other large events this spring and summer. We will continue to do tracking of students and employees that test positive from COVID, and have them isolate. Also, unvaccinated individuals that have been in contact with positive COVID individuals will be asked to quarantine themselves for five days. The Weekly Pandemic Situation Update will be posted on the emergency page by the close of the business day each Friday to keep the campus community informed. /emergency/weekly-pandemic-situation-update/

We are looking forward to the remainder of the spring semester by providing a “back to normal college experience” as much as possible. NOC still encourages the use of masks indoors in public, especially in situations in which social distancing is not possible and for activities with close contact with others IF you are not fully vaccinated or have weakened immune systems.

We will continue to encourage everyone to take personal responsibility in following recommended guidelines, as only through a collective, cooperative effort can we help protect our campus community. If you have not been vaccinated, if you need the second shot in a series, or are eligible for a booster shot, we encourage you to make an appointment with  (NOC Stillwater); or Kay County Health Department on campus every second and fourth Monday (NOC Tonkawa); or Garfield County Health Department scheduled periodically – on campus April 12 (NOC Enid).

The information in our attached pandemic plan as well as on our Emergency page /emergency/ outlines expectations of NOC students and employees. This is not only to protect your health, but the health of our entire community. Your continued support of these guidelines is appreciated.

As always, thank you for what you have done to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases. We are looking forward to celebrating the end of the spring semester on a positive note.

Sincerely,

Plans for the Operation of 91成人 in preparation for, and during the 2021-2022 academic year are subject to change based on current COVID-19 conditions. 01.04.2022 – Message from the President – Coronavirus update for the start of the Semester /emergency-information/01-04-2022-message-from-the-president-coronavirus-update-for-the-start-of-the-semester/ Wed, 05 Jan 2022 16:51:46 +0000

Hello NOC Campus Community

Welcome back to the start of the spring semester! I hope you had an enjoyable holiday break and that you were able to recharge your batteries with the well-earned time off.

I know that many of you have been keeping a close eye on the upward trend of COVID-19. The CDC has valid concerns that we may experience a surge of cases with the Omicron variant. Monday, with the backlog of the New Year’s holiday cases, the U.S. did experience a very large spike of new cases. The spike of new cases is seen in Oklahoma, as well as across the country.

For many of us, we felt like we were getting ahead of the pandemic. However, the recent data shows that COVID-19 still presents a major threat to our health and the health of our families as well as our campus community.

At NOC we have been keeping up with the research findings and have incorporated them into the college’s pandemic response plan. A decision matrix has been developed that will guide individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19, are experiencing COVID symptoms, or have received positive COVID test results. The NOC COVID-19 Health and Safety Matrix will provide individuals with instructions and steps to take depending on their unique situation. The matrix was developed from adapting a resource from another college, extensive work from the NOC Executive Council, valuable input from employees across the college campuses, and recent updates from the CDC regarding the Omicron variant and is attached to this email.

In order to protect the health of our learning community, NOC will begin using the matrix this week. Please read the information included in the entire matrix document. If you would like more information, you are encouraged to read the pdf document concerning additional information related to COVID-19 attached to this email.

NOC will also be using the same modality for instruction as it is listed for the courses on the Spring 2022 course schedule. In order to protect the campus community, if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, are experiencing symptoms, or have received positive test results please continue to complete the COVID-19 Self-Reporting Form and keep your supervisor informed.

NOC is still encouraging vaccinations and boosters. Arrangements have been made on the Tonkawa campus for testing and vaccines every second and fourth Monday this semester starting on the first day of class, January 10. NOC Stillwater students have access to testing and vaccines through OSU. Arrangements are being made to have the services at the Enid campus. NOC encourages masks if you are not fully vaccinated, which the CDC defines as having received the initial series of vaccinations and the booster. NOC will continue to provide weekly pandemic situation updates.

I hope that you will have a great semester and thank you for your consideration of others in this challenging time. I wish you all the best for a healthy semester.

Clark Harris, Ph.D.
President
